UMADO is an abbreviation
for "Union of Madrassahs in Dodoma" in English or "Umoja wa Madrassah
in Dodoma" in Kiswahili. It is a union of local traditional Quranic
Madrassahs in Dodoma comprising madrassahs of both major sects of Shia
and Sunni. So far, 70 madrassahs have joined UMADO as members, in
which 3 madrassahs are that of Shias, i.e. Tanzania Ithna Ashariyah
Community (T.I.C.) Madrassah at Chang'ombe, Dodoma; Bilal Muslim
Mission Madrassah at Kizota, Dodoma; and Bilal Muslim Mission
Madrassah at Chinangali, Dodoma. Others are Sunni Madrassahs.
The main subjects taught in these Madrassahs are

Quranic Sciences, e.g. Recitation (Tartiil),
Memorization (Hifdh), Translations and Tafseer of short selected
Surahs, etc.

Arabic Language and Grammar.

Fiqh e.g. method of wudhu, salat, etc.

Tarikh and Seerah.

Hadith and Akhlaq.
The main aim and
objective of UMADO is to :

Unite all the Madrassahs under one umbrella.

Co-ordinate and co-operate in the running of the
Madrassahs.

Formulate a singular syllabus for all the madrassahs.

Modernise and uplift the system of teaching and
learning in the Madrassahs.

Help in provision of copies of Mashaf, Juzu, Qaidah,
Ta'limal Lughal Arabiyah, and other used text books in the
Madrassahs.

Help in the rehabilitation of the madrassah by
providing building materials such as cement, C.I. sheets, furniture,
mats, etc.

Help teachers financially by providing loans and
other incentives.

Help teachers upgrade their knowledge in Religion,
Teaching Methodology, and common used languages of Arabic and
English.

Open Nursery Schools in every Madrassahs whereby
apart from religious subjects, other academic subjects such as
English language, Mathematics, Social Studies, etc. is also taught.
UMADO is an infant institution established in the
year 2002 AD, but Alhamdulillah,
many projects are accomplished so far and the progress is impressive.
With Tawfeeq from Allah (swt) and help from the well-wishers,
we shall be able to do more to uplift our Quranic Madrassahs in Dodoma,
Insha Allah.
